In June, 2018, I completed my 30th year of teaching. I have taught 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades. I was the Title 1 teacher for 7 years. I was a part of a Teacher Assisted Team for tracking student progress & forming intervention groups. I was an overseer of parapros and met with them 2x/month, providing them with "best teaching strategies" based on how the brain learns and "Strategies That Work". I was a partner in bringing Formative Assessment to our school district. I was a leader/presenter for K-12 teachers for topics such as formative assessment, comprehension techniques, increasing student effort, etc. My most recent training includes: Visualizing & Verbalizing, Formative Assessment, leadership & Cognitive Coaching. I have served on numerous building & district committees, represented our area schools in revamping the Michigan Health Model, and served on community groups for fund raising efforts.

I taught first and second grade for 6 years. My focus was on child development, small group learning for math and reading, and teaching my students responsibility as well as the love of learning. They learned how to have parent-student conferences, discussed their work with their parents, and learned how to recognize their strengths and weaknesses.
