After many years of running a full-service marketing firm in California's Silicon Valley and Maine, I consciously downsized and became an independent consultant, continuing the work that I love and supporting corporate, non-profit and educational organizations. Founded and managed a full-service Silicon Valley public relations and integrated marketing communications firm with offices on both coasts of the US--initially to support my prior two employers extending my tenure with them over a number of years. Expanded the company to a successful full-service agency with 9 full-time employees and dozens of subcontractors. Personally led account teams and major campaigns for product and company launches, as well as crisis communications during mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, lawsuits and DOJ investigations. Services included: strategic planning & counsel, branding, media relations, media audits, press release & contributed article writing, newsletter editing, speech writing & speaker placement, major event and conference production, market research via customer surveys and focus groups, website and intranet content creation, and integrated marketing campaigns (including PR, advertising, trade shows, direct marketing, web content, sales collateral, newsletters, blogging and social media), as well as communications programs for awards, partnerships, corporate social responsibility & thought leadership. Major accounts included: Alfalight, Anatomy Trains, Broadcom Corporation, Copithorne & Bellows Public Relations (contracted to support 3DFX Graphics, Hewlett-Packard/Agilent and Philips Semiconductors), Elpida Memory, Inc., Hitachi Semiconductor America, Inc. (now Renesas), KPMG, NetLogic Microsystems (acquired by Broadcom), Optichron (acquired by Broadcom), PCI-SIG (an industry consortium whose board included Intel, AMD, Microsoft, IBM, HP, Dell, Compaq, and others), ServerWorks (acquired by Broadcom) and Transitive Corp. (acquired by IBM).

Positioned within the agency (then Copithorne & Bellows) as a “client specialist” due to extensive in-house experience at Hitachi Semiconductor. Was responsible for account management and product launches for Hewlett-Packard’s Components Division. Also served on new business development team, identifying targets and responding to RFPs. Pitched and landed start-up accounts as well as larger companies, including Philips Semiconductors. Served as daily client liaison; supervised account teams. Managed client billing and budgets in excess of $1Million/year. Copithorne & Bellows is now part of Porter Novelli.

Worked for Hitachi's Semiconductor and IC Division (now Renesas). Developed and implemented strategic public relations and integrated marketing communications programs, including PR, advertising, direct marketing, sales collateral, tradeshows, website content and technical documentation. Managed outside vendors, including the selection, hiring and daily oversight of PR and Advertising agencies (Tsantes & Associates, The Weber Group, KVO Advertising). Products included ASICs; microprocessors; microcontrollers; linear, optical, analog and RF communications ICs; DRAMs, SRAMs and Flash memory products, among others. Conducted product PR and media relations in-house for Semiconductor & IC Division for 3 years prior to Marcom manager role.

Managed Customer Service activities for pre-internet, online information services company (101 Online, a subsidiary of France Telecom) for the US launch of their Minitel product. Interviewed, hired, and oversaw a staff of five Customer Service representatives - including what may have been the first team of "chat" animators in the US. Conducted market research to determine customers' needs and satisfaction. Created user manual of services for customers. Worked closely with the technical development team, marketing, sales, and distribution departments. Most meetings were conducted in French.

Coordinated regional events for six Bay Area chapters of the “Nation's Premier Public Affairs Forum.” Corresponded with speakers and PR representatives. Arranged meeting venues and logistics. Designed and wrote copy for promotional materials and press releases. Staffed all events outside of San Francisco and introduced event chairpersons and speakers. Our largest regional event was Bill Clinton's "False Choices and New Answers" speech in Oakland, CA just prior to announcing his candidacy for President.

Conducted high-tech, industrial and consumer-based market research for management consulting firm. Performed on-line computer research using Dialog, Predicast and Dow Jones news retrieval services; this was before the internet! Designed custom FileMaker databases to measure and report survey results. Wrote preliminary data analysis and detailed reports. Assisted managing partners with PowerPoint presentations for clients. Handled office accounting and vendor correspondence.

Produced the first annual "Soiree Sparkling" fundraising event and silent auction. Coordinated sponsorships and donations from several of the major French-based sparkling wine producers with locations in Napa and Sonoma; managed logistics and promotion of this event. Also assisted with the annual FACC membership drive.

Summarized Depositions; assisted attorneys with research projects & fact checking. Also assisted office manager on numerous projects during merger with Moser, Pooley & Sullivan, LLP.
