I assisted in art, dance, gymnastics classes, ran the front desk, and tutoring. I coordinated a program to teach children and teens to advocate for themselves called Kids4Kids. They wrote a speech. I transported the group to the City of Columbus council meeting. They were able to speak on behalf of themselves before Columbus City Council to advocate against the closing of their recreation center. This made the children of this low economic area feel like they do have the power to change things with their voice. The Linden Recreation Center was removed from the list.
I organized the regrouping of the Linden Recreational Council. I was the acting- President until we grew to enough members have a legitimate council. I became the vice president, acting treasurer, and Fundraising Chairperson. I helped to bring diverse programming to the Linden Recreation Center under Mr. Ray Humphreys. I held fundraisers to help with the purchasing of uniforms, trophies and awards, repaying and buying equipment. I organized and ran the concession stand every weekend during basketball and wrestling season. I also attended the City of Columbus Parks and recreation joint council to represent Linden rec.
I organized a volunteer group to join the Greater Linden Area Development Council Litter Leage to keep the Linden Park clean. I worked under direction of Linden Area's Safety Director, Walter McKinley in crime prevention in the Linden Area. I helped to promote crime prevention at rally's and community events. I also assisted in the notifications of residents and businesses in City of Columbus Code Enforcement violations. I am now an active member of block watch.
