I am passionate about health and wellness and thus chose a career in healthcare so that I could enhance the quality of life of Canadians from all walks of life. As an occupational therapist (provisional currently), I am interesting in working with people holistically. I am interested in the areas of cognition, pediatrics and mental health. I also have a background in doing research. I enjoy research as I enjoy analyzing and finding answers to questions and the cognitive puzzle and challenge that it brings. During my undergraduate degree, I was helping progress Canada's blood system with Canadian Blood Services. As a volunteer, I have experience in recruiting volunteers, and donors (stem cell, and blood) and assisted in blood-typing people and swabbing for the bone marrow and stem-cell registry. I also had the opportunity to become an ambassador of Canada while teaching in Japan. I often take part in cultural activities with other Japan returnees. I started a LinkedIn account hoping to connect with the many people whom I met during the course of my career experiences and I am hoping to keep those connections going. I am easy to get along with, and I enjoy travelling and experiencing life in different countries. In my spare time I play volleyball and badminton to connect with friends and stay healthy.

Research AssistantUniversity Of Calgary Sep 2015 - Jul 2016Calgary, Canada AreaThe main focus of my research is to follow-up on the data I collected through my undergraduate honours thesis.I use wild C. elegans populations as a source of genetic variations to study the developmental pathway of C. elegans. My focus is the elongation pathway of the C. elegans, which mimics the smooth muscle contraction pathway in humans. Using these genetic variations we are able to study the genetic interactions of genes in this pathway. I use single nucleotide polymorphism mapping to identify these genetic variations from wild C. elegans that interact in this pathway. My duties in the lab also involve maintaining the agar plate stock in the lab and to also ensure there is a supply of autoclaved pipette tips and micro-centrifuge tubes. -
