As Acting Group Head of Legal (2017- 2018) I had responsibility for the day to day management of the legal function and claims management team, with 10 direct reports and another 6 indirect reports, reporting directly to the Group GC. Responsible for ensuring the team managed legal risk effectively across the company and concluding commercial contracts with business partners throughout the operation.-Recruited into easyJet as legal lead for the ‘Brexit’ project, a corporate restructuring project sponsored by the Group GC to ensure that the airline’s operations would not be adversely affected by Brexit. -Acted as senior commercial counsel cover to the senior IT counsel and senior engineering counsel roles. -Recruited and managed a number of new roles in the legal team, including a new Head of Claims Management and the senior legal lead on the GDPR data protection programme. -Legal lead on business critical cross- functional projects, including compliance of the business’ holiday business with the new Package Travel and ATOL Regulations. -Reported to the Airline Management Board on litigation and brand protection matters, working closely with the Head of PR and Head of Insurance.-In the compliance leadership role, was accountable for ensuring personnel were fully trained on the legal requirements of ant-bribery, modern slavery and competition laws and ethics.

Provided legal advice and transaction management for a wide range of clients, with particular industry expertise in aviation, advising start-ups, airlines, manufacturers, brokers, commercial agents, cargo companies and airline tech support service providers on commercial aviation transactions.Also delivered bespoke in-house Contract Management and Compliance solutions and training.

Advised A J Walter Aviation Limited (and AJ Walter Leasing and AJW Technique) on multiple commercial contract based transactions, including engine and aircraft sales and purchases, PBH support, consignment, teardown and engine leasing arrangements. As part of the Senior Management Team of AJW, I was responsible for building an in-house legal team that would support all business functions. I also developed and communicated new anti-bribery policies, processes and training for all employees and agents in the AJW Group worldwide. As part of my role in advising the commercial teams on contracting best practice, I developed more than 25 commonly used standard form contracts for the Group.• I also led legal actions for the recovery of a number of customer debts.Finally, my role included managing an in-house insurance function, able to handle insurance related queries on all commercial contract matters and acting as the primary contact point with AJW’s brokers and insurers on the purchasing of AJW’s aviation products, all risks and business operations insurance policies.

Counsel for the EMEA region; advising GE Aviation and CFM International on aircraft engine sales, exchanges, leases and maintenance agreements with a wide range of airline customers (flag carriers, lessors, VIP, RBJs).

Seconded to the start-up team to tackle legal and commercial issues arising out of establishing a Virgin airline in Nigeria: • Provided the Executive Team with legal advice on technical services, brand and shareholders agreements with the parent company, Virgin Atlantic, and on corporate governance matters.• Closed negotiations on more than 60 new commercial contracts, spanning aircraft leasing, in-flight services, ground services, IT (hardware and software), professional services and facilities. • Established ‘command and control’ policies and procedures to manage start-up costs and commitments and mitigate start-up risk and delivered training on the same to all employees.• Recruited and managed the day-to-day activities of the permanent Legal Manager.

Project role to establish policies & processes to improve the effectiveness and visibility of commercial contracting activities: • Successfully managed the design and implementation of a Contracting and Procurement Policy for the company and delivering the programme to 300 colleagues. • Designed, built and delivered a Contracts Database system to the business.• Assisted the Head of Procurement with delivering a programme plan to deliver consistent sourcing and contracting “best practices” within the Procurement function.
