About Tamer Taskin, Phd

Dr. Tamer Taskin is a Turkish/British technical expert and executive in rail and mass transit control, signalling and telecommunication systems. With over 35 years of experience in research and technology development, systems engineering, project management, and technology company leadership, he leverages his extensive knowledge of systems in the development of innovative products and effective design, integration and delivery of major S&T projects. Dr. Taskin earned his PhD in Rail Systems Design from the University of Birmingham, UK, and his BSc(Hon) in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey.He began his UK career as a Principal Engineer with Alstom before moving on to work as a Research Engineer with London Underground. Dr. Taskin went on to found Transportation Technologies Ltd., a UK-based engineering consultancy that operated from 1995 to 2012. The company specialized in project management, systems engineering, product development, and project delivery services, supporting major clients such as Network Rail, London Underground, Thales, Alstom, and the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB).In 2012, Dr. Taskin co-founded YM IDIS, a subsidiary of Yapi Merkezi Holding in Istanbul, Turkey, specializing in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 4 product development and project execution.
