I served as a Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition trooper in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) as a full-time National Serviceman. I was also appointed as Platoon Sergeant, and supported the Platoon Commander with the daily administration and preparation of the platoon for training, Combat, and Peacetime Operations. I was attached to the Combat Intelligence School (CIS) as an Auxillary Instructor for Reconnaissance troops, performing administrative, operational, and instructional support to the institution with a team of trainees placed under command. During this stint, I was tasked to and performed the following;• Imparted and evaluated vocational skillsets to trainees under my command utilising various methodologies to ensure trainees are well equipped to respond under operational stress and rigorous ground situations, resulting in a 100% pass rate for the vocational training term• Provided guidance, mentoring, and support to trainees throughout the duration of the arduous and demanding course by adopting active listening approaches, appropriate goal setting frameworks, providing prompt and succinct feedback, and genuine care for soldiers, hence receiving a positive rating upon Instructor Evaluation with an average score of above 95 / 100
