  • The Birthday Collective
    Editor
The Birthday Collective Apr 2020 - Sep 2023
I was one of three editors for The Birthday Book 2021, the sixth edition of The Birthday Book. The Birthday Book is an annual collection of essays and stories examining emerging challenges and opportunities for Singapore. The number of essays each year matches Singapore's age - 51 in 2016, 52 in 2017, and so on. Praising the inaugural Book on Facebook, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said, “I am proud of the young people who organised this, and wrote the essays. Perhaps that is the next big thing for Singapore – getting many more people involved in thinking about our country and what it can become, and then working together to make it happen!”Editing the Book was a year-long process. As editor, I identified and approached potential contributors for the Book, edited their pieces, and ensured the entire Book was ready for publishing. Apart from managing the pieces themselves, I was also involved in the design, marketing, and publishing of the Book. The Birthday Book 2021 launched in August, 2021, and sold out its print run (~1,110 books) within a week.I was also an editor for The Birthday Book 2022: (Re)Start.
