As Housing Developer and Property Manager, I was responsible for the overall redevelopment and management of the Duke and Lynch Street townhomes from beginning to end including; rehabilitation and lease-up. In this capacity, I solicited bids from eligible contractors and coordinated with the selected contractor during construction, created a marketing plan for the start-up property management operations and grand opening. Under the general direction of the TCRDC’s Board of Directors, I exercised a high level of judgment in the conduct of business responsibility.

I established and managed strong business relationships with for-profit and not-for-profit housing providers throughout the Carolinas in order to identify and expand business opportunities, which resulted in a significant increase in affordable homeownership and rental housing opportunities for low, moderate and very low-income families through partnerships with lenders, local governments, and other organizations. I sourced new development deals that focused on multi-family residential projects, including real-estate market analysis. I also acquired, analyzed and provided relevant intellectual capital by monitoring housing issues and trends.

Administered and monitored CDBG and HOME federal funds for the City of Charleston. Monitored grantees and sub-recipients for compliance with federal regulations and local funding requirements. Created, implemented and managed the City's Homeownership Initiative, through the acquisition of land and dilapidated properties for affordable housing development. Provided staff support and loan recommendations to the City's Homeownership Initiative Commission, which was created to provide oversight, set policy and to make lending decisions regarding applications from developers and homebuyers. In 2003, received Housing Finance and Development Professional Certification through the National Development Council. Received Housing Counselor Certification through the Association of Housing Counselors in 2004.
