Embodied intelligence and mechanical modeling of soft robots with artificial intelligence. DEFROST research team.Soft robotics uses compliant materials for better adaptation to the environment, manipulation of fragile objects or for safer interactions with humans. Years of research in rigid robotics have led to the development of analytical models and components on which most designs are based. In contrast, soft robots have an infinite number of degrees of freedom, making them much more expensive to evaluate, and there are no clear standardized components yet. The objective of my thesis is to work on tools for the exploration and optimization of both design and control of such robots.
