Regional Publishing Operations Manager, East
CurrentResponsible for USGS publishing operations for the eastern half of the United States. Oversee the managers of five Publishing Service Centers serving 40 States and Puerto Rico. Serve on cross-functional national teams that establish national level policies that guide USGS publishing and turn new Federal mandates into real world actions and impact. Develop, implement, measure, and communicate performance metrics for the publishing network. Allocate financial and contractual resources, technology and tools to support strategic objectives. Recommend policies, procedures, and best practices to help accomplish publishing network requirements. Address problems that impact the timeliness and quality of products. Set high-level goals and objectives related to the funding model, annual budget, and operational matters.Manage the team and facilitate the mentoring and coaching of publishing network staff. Set high-level goals and objectives related to workforce planning, staffing, and customer relations. Allocate human resources and training to support the publishing network's strategic objectives. Drive the team and individual members to new heights through creation of goals and achievement of outcomes that demonstrably advance the USGS mission. Demonstrate leadership beyond the immediate team to influence people across silos. Facilitate collaboration among publishing network staff to improve productivity, quality, costs, and customer service.Oversee the development, review, and implementation of USGS publishing, editorial, and visual information policies. Review publishing policies, identify policy gaps and recommends new publishing policies to fill them. Update existing, and when appropriate, sunset outdated publishing policies. Include relevant parties in the discussion, development, review, and approval of new and/or revised policies.
