With more than 25 years of experience in writing, editing, and communications, I am a science communications and publishing expert who helps set the national level policies that guide USGS publishing and turn new Federal mandates into real world actions and impacts. I manage the regional publishing operations for the eastern half of the U.S. and oversee the managers of five Publishing Service Centers serving 40 States and Puerto Rico. We edit, produce, and publish a wide variety of science products, from technical reports and maps to fact sheets, circulars, and brochures. I am passionate about the mission of the USGS and the people who carry out that mission, and I apply my skills and knowledge to ensure a positive work environment, the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes, and the quality, accessibility, and usability of our products. I have implemented process improvements and operational changes that have enhanced the performance and customer service of our publishing network. I have also developed and delivered training on new publishing technologies, writing and editing, writing for the web, and plain language to USGS staff and partners as well as other government communicators around the nation. I love mentoring, coaching, and helping people grow, develop, and achieve their goals in their careers and life. I thrive when I can help set the vision, map out the strategy, solve complex problems, and collaborate and work with diverse people who are passionate about what we do.
