Dr. Larry F. Hodges, Dr. Shaundra B. Daily, Dr. Jerome McClendon ( advisors)Building a phone application to detect digital dating abuse from text messages.1 in 3 women in the U.S is a victim of dating related abuse and violence and 30% of the women in college have reported dating violence. These alarming numbers show the severity of the problem. There are technology based and non technology based tools out there to help the victims, but none of them detect dating abuse. As there is no publicly available training set training machine learning algorithms, my work involves creating and validating a training set. In the next phase I will test two machine learning algorithms using this training set.As dating abuse is a sensitive issue with young adults, we have to consider social and psychological implications of using this technology. Participatory design process is being used to create the user interface and it will go through three iterations before the final application is built. Skills - Android application development, Text Mining, Data corpus creation, paper prototyping, experiment design and data analysis.Dr. Shaundra Daily, Morph LabContributed to a project in designing an affective computing system that uses physiologicalmeasures gathered via wrist worn sensors to understand how students are engaged in theclassroom.Data Analysis in a pilot study with the School of Nursing and Public Health, Clemson University. Exploring the use of physiological method (EDA) to predict and prevent Alzheimer's Disease related undesired behavior.Studied the effects of Virtual Human Animation on Emotion Contagion in Simulated Inter-Personal Experiences. Helped run the experiment and worked on the analysis of EDA data using python scripts.
