As a recent Baylor University graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, my role at Better Together BU as a Civic Interfaith Fellow was to bridge gaps and foster understanding across diverse faiths. My approach has always been grounded in empathy and effective communication, working to create a more inclusive environment on campus.My time as a Social Skills Coach allowed me to see the impact my compassion and attention can have on someone, as I was able to help countless children with autism live their most authentic lives through building a life-long therapeutic relationship with them. I work at Better Together Baylor as a Civic Interfaith Leader. This helps me to educate others on new viewpoints, foster understanding and encourage discussion where conflict is common. I also currently volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), where I am able to guide children affected by abusive households towards post-traumatic growth and self-betterment, while also rehabilitating and teaching the parents of those children on how to serve their children better. Being a CASA also requires me to advocate in court for these children, and that helps me to ensure they get the care they deserve. All of these opportunities and more have helped me to reflect my core values of showing unyielding compassion, fostering resilience, rehabilitation of those deemed irredeemable, and creating new solutions for old problems, everyday. I hope I can inspire you to do the same! In the future, I'd like to take steps towards starting my own school and changing the education system. To do this, I will need experience and money, and towards that end, I will follow my passion and become a criminal reform psychologist for my first few years in the field.
