As part of the Deep Technology Incubator programme, I assessed pre-incubation loans and repayable grant applications, as well as advised and assisted on the operations of the programme itself.

Assessed a number of services and products offered by the business, ensuring the policy intent and delivery customer-centric lenses was applied and being delivered effectively. I assisted in the creation of the Covid-19 R&D support service for SMEs and led conversations with Government regarding support provided for the start-up community in New Zealand.

Governed by the Trade Marks Act 2002, I've assessed local and international trade mark applications for being eligible for registration within New Zealand. Each application is unique, and all sections of the Act are analysed before final decisions for applications are made. I've directly dealt with compliance reporting for applications that do not meet registration requirements and concerns are communicated to clients regarding how issues can potentially be resolved. Stakeholder engagement is a prominent aspect of the job, as you deal with clients (incl. CEO's and lawyers) on a regular basis.

I've analysed and evaluated reports that have been supported by MBIE via different investment streams (e.g. Endeavor Fund, Partnerships, Vision Mātauranga Capability Fund). Subject matter of projects analysed would include encompassing the primary industry sector, technological advances, focusing on iwi engagement and environmental matters. In addition, I've worked on how risk rating tools are utilised and analysed how different systems operate.

Operationally orientated, a large portion of work was focused around the systems in place surrounding an online management system for the Endeavor Fund 2016.Recruiting assessors specialised particular fields of study to evaluate proposals submitted for the Endeavor Fund. Assessors need to be highly knowledgeable in a variety of areas due to the diversity of subject matter within applications. Emphasis is placed on excellence and impact areas of assessors and applications. This role was predominantly with the Primary Industries Team at MBIE.

In order to progress within the speech and drama programme, stage performances are required by younger secondary school students.
