My purpose is taking care of Small & Medium-Size businesses (SMEs) growing the contribution they and their leaders make to our economy, thus to society. I support entrepreneurs and SMEs directly, and by connecting those with expertise to those who need it. As an executive-level "utility" player who can work “on” or “in” the operation I provide external perspectives and integrated assistance.The best analogy is that of your relationship with your family doctor relationship:Whether your doctor’s visit is prompted by a concern, or just a routine check-up, you expect to be asked many questions about your health and well-being. A “check-up” on the business "diagnoses" its current health, including any concerns of its leadership. The approach varies depending on the nature and issues of the business. However, the objective is always to get the best possible understanding of where the business is now, how it got there, and where the owner(s)/leaders wish it to go next.Depending on what the physician learns, diagnostic tests may be called for - some general and others specific to a patient’s concerns, medical history, or health challenges. I use the same approach to support businesses' well-being. Diagnostic tests might include such standards such as Financial Analysis, Performance Indicator status and trajectories, PESTLE and/or SWOT analyses. A close look at other matters may reveal previously unknown risks and opportunities. Common examples are Corporate Governance, Workforce, Production, Supply Chains, Technology, Productivity, Project Management practices, Innovation agenda. In short, whatever might reveal benefits for the enterprise deserves exploration.Once the doctor has reviewed diagnostic test results, recommendations may be presented: lifestyle change, ongoing observation, medication, a course of treatment and/or specialist referral. An enterprise’s diagnostics may also lead to observations of how performance might be improved and/or scenarios for goal achievement. NOTE: Some activities may be within my scope. However, where a “subject matter expert” would better serve, I refer to a specialist. Again, like a family physician, I can coordinate specialists’ involvement, providing a single point of contact, ensuring integrated, strategically aligned, effective and cost-efficient solutions.
