Most people are surprised to learn I started my career as military personnel. I did not quite like it so I got out of it as soon as I could. Although my passion was Information Technology, being a foreign student in UK who needs flexible hours, retail was the easiest and kind of only option for me. So, I spent my next five years in high street businesses like McDonalds, Peacocks, Urban Outfitters, Woolworths, Blockbuster etc. I spent some time working for a takeaway shop and royal mail as well. Beside study and my hourly paid jobs, I used to work as an independent IT support engineer for SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) environments in greater London area. To promote myself one day I tried this new social media’s ad platform called Facebook, which was like a child in Europe comparing social media giants like myspace and hi5. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. That was 2005 and I immediately started my own digital ad agency “Tanjid’s Studio” and started offering paid advertising service in Google AdWords, Facebook (later in twitter, LinkedIn) in UK and in Bangladesh my home country. After moving from UK in 2011 I started working for a member house of Dhaka Stock Exchange as CIO, simultaneously in an IT firm as CTO and a 3d Animation Studio as the Head of Operations. I put some extra effort on my already running “Tanjid’s Studio” From 2011 people in Bangladesh started moving from Hi5 to Facebook. A lot of campaigns were launched from my agency as I was the only person who could promote ads on Facebook. Nowadays I have many competitors but still am happy with my agency’s performance. Anyway, this was the story of my transformation, from a retail employee to a digital marketing strategist.
