I have been in the grain industry for 9 years now, I worked with 3 companies LA Grain, Parrish and Heimbecker and currently Viterra. LA Grain was a facility assistant my duties were loading trucks with bagged pulse crops, grading and doing maintenance to machinery including bearings, conveyer belts, augers, legs, dryers, and cleaners for the facility. With Parrish and Heimbecker I worked as a facility assistant and then worked my way up to being the operations manager, my duties included blending grain to meet spec of shipments going out, grading grain coming into the facility and going out, doing routine maintenance on equipment around the facility and also doing up customer contracts and cheques, I also helped with the distribution of chemical and delivering it if need be, also ran the fertilizer shed I made blends for farmers to meet their fields needs. I am currently with Viterra running the grain facility doing the same duties as the other two positions.
