My ultimate career goal is to work in the pharmaceutical industry as a researcher or administrator. I chose this industry because I want to aid in the discovery and innovation of new medications that contribute to improving human health. My time in high school has given me an introduction to the type of knowledge that I would need to utilize in order to be successful within this industry. After graduation, I chose to attend Texas Tech University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology along with a Minor in Chemistry. I picked Texas Tech as my primary choice because it is a comprehensive public research university that would help open more doors to entering the pharmaceutical industry. After completing my degree at Texas Tech, I plan to build on the knowledge I have acquired by obtaining a Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) or Clinical Research Professional (CRP) certification. During my time at Texas Tech University, I have spent five being mentored in areas such as Microbiology, Genetics, Anatomy and Physiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Molecular Biochemistry. The labs for these classes have helped me acquire a foundation for performing technical laboratory duties and maintaining equipment. Currently, I am an intern with the Covenant Medical Group Administration team analyzing patient comments to help assess the quality of treatment provided by physicians and caregivers.Spending time in all of the previously mentioned classes has taught me to be cautious and observant of details when examining organic tissues and chemical specimens. My experience as an administrative intern has shown me how to utilize software like Microsoft Excel to collect, analyze, and interpret data as well as communicate and cooperate with multiple divisions of a company to finish projects in a timely manner.
