I learned from Technicians, EITs and Senior Engineers about regular electrical maintenance and capital improvement of an electric generating station. I learned about the process of creating power, distributed control systems, process improvement, and project management. I worked on individual projects and upgrades, edited and drafted drawings, and participated in multiple unit maintenance outages. In my third summer, I acted as project lead for a 5 year Arc Flash study and a project to upgrade stack strobe lighting on all stacks at WGS. Coordinating and meeting with vendors, buyers, management, and other plant personnel to accomplish these projects was essential. I learned much about the capital project approval and execution process.
