Orderly/Anesthesia Technician
Intermountain Riverton Hospital
This position helped me improve my interpersonal skills as I learned how to offer comfort to patients experiencing pain and distress as I transported them to and from the OR, ER, hospital floor, and PACU. Basic Aseptic Technique Certification allowed me to become well experienced in sterile scrub, gown and glove, and field technique by holding forceps and providing suction for general, orthopedic, obstetric and gynecologic surgeries. I was also trained to assist urologists when operating Holmium and CO2 lasers. These responsibilities improved my manual dexterity and taught me how to act clearly and objectively in emergency situations. My duties as an anesthesia technician allowed me to learn proper use and care of GE Datex Ohmeda Aestiva/5 anesthesia machine. By assisting physicians with intubations, nerve blocks, and other anesthetic procedures, I was able to gain meaningful experience in the field of anesthesiology.
