Director Of Technology & Library Services
Education Specialist
Science Educator, Math & Reading Interventionist
Returning for the 2016-17 school year I moved up with my students to teach 8th grade science, reading intervention, and a rotational STEM intervention class. Also this year, I was the site tech responsible for not only the management of both student & teacher technology, but also the education of staff on more productive use of technology.I worked to craft a partnership between our school and local public library resulting in a classroom-by-classroom registration of students to obtain library cards & access additional resources. State assessment results showed double the previous year's growth, second highest growth in the district, and the greatest achievement level seen at the site in the test's history. During the 2015-16 school year I taught sections of 7th & 8th grade general science, 7th grade math intervention, and 7th/8th grade reading intervention. For science, FOSS & SEPUP curriculum were utilized and tailored to meet the needs of the unique population of Montebello. Houghton-Mifflin's Math 180 Courses 1 & 2 were implemented to provide math intervention to students who were multiple grade levels behind with great success. The Success for All Foundation's Reading Edge program is the district wide reading intervention. Even during the first year of teaching this program a majority of students grew more than one grade level in less than a full year. Outside of the classroom I served teacher representative for our school's chapter of the National Junior Honor Society, grade level lead for our Student Intervention & Identification Team, as well as safety committee representative. I was classified as a Highly Effective Educator based on classroom evaluations using the Learning Observation Instrument, & student growth on the Arizona Science Standards. Strengths were identified as to organization, technology incorporation, as well as the welcoming and safe, climate & culture created within the learning environment.
