Integral team member during “Code Blue,” (critical) situations, by cooperatively working with a diverse team of professional care providers, performing CPR, drug administration, cardiac monitoring and IV/IO access. Provides direct patient (PT) care needs during their Emergency Department visit including: Performing 12-lead EKGs, Blood draws, IV insertions, Dietary requirements, Transport, Specimen collection, First aid, Splinting of fractures or dislocations, Vital sign assessments (blood pressures, heart and respiratory rates, blood glucose levels and temperatures) and the collection of past pertinent medical data/history. Proficient and trained on Ultrasound Guided IVs. Assists with receiving incoming squad calls, walk-in and squad delivered PTs. Triages all previously mentioned individuals using the UH Care Allscripts Electronic Health Record Program. Ensures availability of necessary equipment and supplies in each room as well as stocking and maintaining crash carts, defibrillators, monitoring devices and office supplies. Prepares PTs for exams, specimen collection and anticipates needs of PTs and providers proactively. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with PTs/customers and co-workers. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
