Prepared and reviewed Flood Insurance Studies and Flood Insurance Rate Map revisions and amendments under contract with FEMA for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Responsibilities focused on management aspects as well as dealing with complex technical issues. Coordination between FEMA and other private, public and governmental agencies was also an important part of the job. The following are the highlights of the above-mentioned responsibilities. · Evaluation of flood hazard mitigation works, both existing and proposed, such as levees, dams, channelization projects, bridge and culvert crossings, storm water management facilities, erosion and sediment control structures, and storm drain systems for Watershed Management Studies with regard to regulatory compliance and floodplain impacts.· Coordinated with federal, state, and local floodplain management officials, engineers, developers, and private citizens to resolve technical deficiencies and ensure compliance with regulations and laws governing floodplain development. · Involved in resolving complex issues related to appeals/protests and mud and debris flow and alluvial fan type flooding for floodplain management and flood mitigation.· Developed models for the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) purposes. Also developed H & H models using HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, UNET, SWMM, TR-20, TR-55, for local, regional and state agencies and different communities of the United States and for the private citizens.
