I love marketing, retail and e-commerce, making the sales, telling brand stories, generating donations for charities. I honour the struggle. When I was 10 my Dad opened a mail order company – that’s what it was called back then – so this direct selling lark has been in my blood for a few years now. The products may have changed that I am used to marketing – now it’s fashion and gifts, high end, mainstream, niche, catalogues and of course online. Then I found charity retail and was hooked by using those commercial skills for a great cause, telling stories, showing the impact, just as hungry for sales and profit to support the service users.I have been leading teams for a long time in marketing (like Long Tall Sally and Artigiano) and in recent years the whole Trading operation at Help for Heroes. I have developed business strategies, budgets and marketing plans. I know my way round a spreadsheet and I am used to Board presentations and stakeholder management. But also I am used to delivering on the projects behind that too:• Changing E-commerce platform to Shopify – on time and on budget. Adding marketplaces like Amazon• Driving digital marketing through email, social ads, affiliates, referrals• Catalogue production / print buying / running photoshoots – who does not love a Christmas shoot in July• Launching a lottery – adding a layer of sales from an existing charity retail audienceA major strength is I am great at building a team. I call it just being a good human being. Get to know people, support them, encourage them, have a clear vision, build the boat together that you are all in and work hard to make the boat go faster – even if the seas get stormy sometimes – well that is retail.Amongst all this Ed, my husband, and I opened The Salt Marsh Gallery in Lymington. An entrepreneurial and creative challenge that has inspired us since 2017. Always enjoying art, ceramics and sculpture we set to bring to customers a curated collection of what we love with a massive dose of coastal living. That is the glamorous bit but again doing the work on cashflow, VAT returns, filing accounts, buying plans. We love it all.So I am now using my experience for my new business to help retailers or charities to drive their sales and brands online. With my energy, passion and commitment. With my sense of humour (makes the day run easier for sure). With my calm capability. Do you need some of that? Feel free to reach out to me.
