I'm Tanya and I support a DevOps cloud IT development team at TELUS Communications Inc.Our team's primary function is to send communications to all customers across all brands, product lines and business units for both service and marketing messages. We send primarily emails, SMS and MMS, and we send out 1 million+ messages per day.Our team consists of 3 development squads and 2 BAU squads, with a total of 36 team members. Our platform is on Google cloud, integrated with other TELUS internal communication platforms and the Adobe application. We are one of the 1st teams at TELUS moving our application entirely to GCP and converting to a DevOps team. We started our journey back in 2019 and now have 90%+ traffic migrated to GCP already. We are frequently featured at TELUS as the leading team for DevOps practices and cloud solutions. We were invited often to various CDO, EVP, VP-level presentations to showcase our achievements. As a DevOps cloud delivery team manager, I firmly believe in the benefits of DevOps and cloud solutions. In year 2022, we successfully migrated 4 million transactions / month to the cloud. We also created advanced CICD pipeline with integrated QA automation and performance testing capability. We deploy fast (10+ times / month) and rollback fast, and our team is the most proud that we are now deploying mostly during the day time. This has helped team achieve much better work life balance. In 2023, we will focus more on maturing the operational support best practices. We want to develop more innovative tools and solutions to enable business to "self serve" on triaging their prod issues, to improve production support efficiency and improve our MTTR.

This is a core backend API team that supports 97% of Telus wireless functionality, covering most of the subscriber lifecycle activities from activation renewal to phone number change, plan and service changes, to port in port out and cancellations. I was a senior BSA and scrum master on the team. On the team level, my job was to assess project intake, creating short term and long term solutions with given budget and timeline to deliver business features, while aligning with platform's future roadmap. I also helped to coordinate team capacity and delivery timeline, actively leading team's process changes to drive towards efficiencies and reducing waste in our value stream. Within projects I was the end to end owner. I was responsible for collecting clarifying requirements with the business, communicating to the dev team, creating test scenarios, planning and managing releases with multiple teams.

Business Intelligence Senior Business System AnalystTelus 2009 - 2014As a senior BSA at the Business Intelligence team, I worked closely with the marketing team to drive out intelligence from the data analytics platform. I lead a small POC team and built a real time dashboard that illustrated real time WLS activation, deactivation loads. This POC was turned into a multi year program after. My job function also included being the end to end owner of BI projects which is to identify data sources, analyze the data, help to create and clarify business logic to transform the data into meaningful metrics and data cubes. We used Cognos and ETL tools such as informatica. I also gained a great deal of knowledge on writing SQL and data analysis within Oracle databases.
