As the Anadromous Fish Habitat Restoration Coordinator in Central Sacramento Valley, I engaged on a broad range of habitat restoration and research activities primarily in lotic waters. Coordinated with local, state, and federal agencies, and involved landowners on restoration actions, fish monitoring and California water operations. Coordinated the development of restoration projects and project mitigation measures, and prepared and reviewed environmental documents (such as CEQA, NEPA, CESA, ESA, FERC, Water Rights, etc.) as required to support the projects.Participated on a team working on a study on the effects of marijuana cultivation on listed anadromous fish (spring-run Chinook salmon, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha). This study involves using multiple data collection methodologies that are primarily from the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP), including instream/streamside physical habitat data collection; biological data collection (algae, macroinvertebrates); and data collection of a host of water quality parameters, all of which requires compliance with a strict set of standard operating procedures.

As a member of the North Central Region Habitat Conservation Program team, I:• Reviewed and provided comments on California Environmental Quality Act documents (CEQA) • Serveed as a liaison to local, State, and federal agencies• Authored and issued Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Agreements • Coordinate the Natural Resource Volunteer Program’s participation in the LSA Compliance and Monitoring Program• Coordinated with the Law Enforcement Division on violations of the Fish and Game Code• Participated in the statewide coordination for permitting renewable energy projects• Authored California Endangered Species Act Incidental Take Permits and Consistency Determinations• Facilitated and negotiated on the CDFW’s behalf during the development of Natural Communities Conservation Plans• Acted as a contract manager for payable and reimbursable agreements• Have applied for and been awarded federal grant monies for the development of landscape scale conservation planning efforts• Represented CDFW at meetings and in public and private forums• Assisted with the organization and implementation of workshops to establish programmatic consistency• Assisted with several regional resources assessment studies including: Swainson's Hawk, Burrowing Owl, Great Gray Owl, giant garter snake, Chinook salmon spawning, as well as other fisheries and in-stream flow studies.

I worked on several projects within the Sport Fisheries Restoration Project including the Central Valley Tissue Archive, the Central Valley Angler Survey, and the State and Federal Water Projects. Dudies included: collecting measurements, tissue and scale samples from Chinook and Steelhead during spawning at local fish hatcheries, retrieved and read coded wire tags from adult and juvenile Chinook, analyze Chinook scales to determine age, helped maintain archive database. During my time spent on the Angler Survey, I was part of a team to evaluate the fishing effort and harvest in Central Valley recreational sport fisheries (Chinook salmon, Steelhead, Striped bass, American shad and Sturgeon). Duties included: operation and maintenance motor boats, kayaks, and vehicles to count and interview anglers, collection of fishing effort, catch, and biological data following detailed protocols. I also spent time working on the Sierra Nevada Monitoring Project which is part of a long term study evaluating the effects of climate change on the species of California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range, where I traveled to several different locations within central California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range to perform mark and recapture studies on the small mammals within the area, as well as, assessing their habitat and performing vegetation analyses, set up and maintained Reconnex cameras at trapping locations and successfully navigated remote locations using a GPS system, topographic maps and aerial photos.

I assisted with general care and maintenance, as well as medicine administration, for education animals, informed zoo guests of many different species of animals and updates on current conservation efforts, performed in the stage shows and traveled to schools to assist with the education programs
