Professor Tao Wu is a prominent researcher and educator with over 30 years of experience in chemical engineering, encompassing research, teaching, and leadership roles across academia and industry. He joined the University of Nottingham Ningbo China in 2007 and was Head of the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering from 09 2010 to 06 2016 and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FoSE) from 08 2016 to 07 2024. From 2022 to 2023, he was Vice Provost of UNNC, responsible for CBI.His expertise covers critical areas such as carbon capture, biomass utilization, and process intensification. Professor Wu has played a pivotal role in advancing these fields, having led several prestigious institutions and conducted groundbreaking research that has made significant contributions to the global scientific community. As the founding director of the undergraduate Chemical Engineering program at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), Professor Wu developed the program from the ground up, achieving accreditation by IChemE in 2016. He also established and directs the Provincial Key Laboratory of Carbonaceous Wastes Processing and Process Intensification, the Municipal Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Conversion Technologies, and the university's New Materials Institute (NMI).Professor Wu's research centers on the efficient and sustainable conversion of fossil fuels and biomass, the development of new materials for environmental applications, process intensification, CO2 utilization, and waste processing. He has supervised 35 PhD students to successful completion and authored over 140 SCI-indexed publications since 2019, with more than 57% of his work published in the top 10% of international journals, and over 17% ranking among the top 10% most cited articles. In addition to his prolific research, Professor Wu holds 20 patents, with more than 10 patents pending. One of his patented technologies, an opposed multi-burner gasifier, has been successfully commercialized and licensed to over 150 commercial units. He has been recognized as one of the top 2% most cited scientists worldwide by Stanford University since 2021.
