I am a computational material Science researcher with over 5 years of experience. I have a background is Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. The most common misconception in Metallurgical and Material Science is that it is limited to the study of metals, particularly iron and steel, and that it is primarily experimental in nature. Metallurgical and Material Science are interdisciplinary fields that encompass the study of all types of materials, including metals, ceramics, composites in a wide range of applications, from aerospace to electronics to energy production. In addition, while experimental work is an important aspect of metallurgical and material science, theoretical and computational methods are also essential tools for understanding the behavior of materials at the atomic and molecular level. These methods allow researchers to design new materials with specific properties and to optimize existing materials for specific applications. Atomistic modelling can provide insights into the fundamental properties of materials, such as their structure, composition, and behavior under different conditions. This knowledge is essential for designing new materials with specific properties and for optimizing the performance of existing materials.
