I already regard myself as a compassionate individual and this is a quality that I have attained from a young age. Working in a rehabilitation hospital for the past few years permitted me to engage with individuals from different walks of life.I have socialised with people with learning disabilities, drug abusers and other mental health issues. The experience moulded me into a caring individual with multiple empowering characteristics. Not only do I consider myself as a caring individual but I believe that I am also a helpful, trustworthy person that can build good relationships and be respectful towards others. I am eager to pursue a career in which I am able to help and care for people, becoming a nurse would allow me to fulfil this ambition. My dissertation in undergraduate study at the University of Wolverhampton was focused on the application of research and sources from various literature reviews in the designing of data collection instruments on health topics. Other modules were based on the anatomy and physiology of a human body and how public health can be affected by the environment and other aspects. The three years as a student also developed my leadership skills as I had to play this role in multiple class group activities. I was also involved in the ‘Into Healthcare’ Residential Summer School 2011 scheme at the St Georges University of London. The scheme involved lectures and practical workshops and high level health exercises. This experience gave an insight of working within healthcare as an adult nurse and other related professions. My career so far has been open to partnership within multi-disciplinary settings. I have managed to work with different types of nurses, psychologists, doctors and occupational therapists. .
