Panorama Education is a fast-growing technology startup based in Boston and San Francisco focused on radically improving education. Over 1,500 school systems serving 12 million students across 50 states have adopted the Panorama platform as clients and thought partners, including the entire state of Iowa and Hawaii, as well as large districts like New York City, San Francisco, and Dallas. Panorama’s platform also helps educators collect data about non-academic factors that are key to each child’s success in school and in life, such as social-emotional learning and well-being, safety, teacher-student relationships, and family engagement. Panorama has raised $45 million from Emerson Collective, YCombinator, Spark Capital, Owl Ventures, Uncork, and others.

My focus during this time has been leading projects to completion, communicating with stakeholders to glean the most value possible out of our team's time. I've spent a lot of time mentoring new team members with our exponential growth and improving our test suites and documentation to better enable the team as well. With the scale that we've achieved I've also focused on monitoring and performance of our most critical systems as well as taking on backend work when we're short handed.

I was moved to what is now called the Loyalty and Promotions team at Dutchie where our team was responsible for the features that allow our customers to support discounts and offers on their products. We built a robust marketing management system to enable our customers to discount, advertise, and track their product sales. I made myself a domain expert in a pretty short time and started building a thorough testing suite for these systems. During this time, Dutchie acquired two additional companies and I worked cross functionally to satisfy the business needs post merger.

Shortly after I joined, the pandemic started, and our business sky rocketed. During this time I worked very closely with our support team to triage high priority issues and fix them as soon as possible. I quickly adapted to a completely new tech stack and started getting my hands dirty building out features to help support our customers that enabled them to scale their business. Out of this experience, I also helped to implement process and tools to enabled our support team to do their jobs more efficiently.

As a team of two engineers initially, I served as the frontend half of a large scale eCommerce application. I built and maintained many complex features and infrastructure projects; most notably: - Lead an initiative to convert our entire client side application from AngularJS to Angular with a custom web-pack build.- Built out a large re-usable component library that helped to improve development speed as well as user experience.- Built a front of house POS application with scanner, printer, cash drawer, and mobile application as well as a back of house management system for retailers including inventory management, scheduling, etc.- Built many custom BI dashboards using Chart.js for data visualization that was backed by an on-premise data warehouse that I also helped build.- Incorporated ACH payments into our business model which saved the company thousands of dollars in processing fees.- Prototyped the first version of a mobile applications used to take payment and check guests in.

This was my first professional software position so everything was so new to me. My primary responsibility in this role was to learn the ropes and to do it quickly. In this role I built a comprehensive e2e test suite using C# and Selenium which ran on a custom CI/CD pipeline I helped setup using Jenkins. I also was very involved in fixing bugs and building smaller features in an Angular application.
