I'm a leader of award-winning audio projects and a highly-regarded manager of production teams. In my current role at Hidden Brain, I work closely with host Shankar Vedantam to manage our editorial work and staff, and to vet new growth opportunities for our company. Since joining Hidden Brain in 2016, I have played a key role in refining the sound of the show and in dramatically growing our podcast and radio audiences. Our podcast is now downloaded many millions of times every month, and our radio show is heard on more than 400 public radio stations across the United States. In 2020, I joined Shankar in launching Hidden Brain Media, the independent production company that produces Hidden Brain and our spin-off podcast, My Unsung Hero. I built a new production team and workflows from the ground up, and with my colleagues successfully developed the infrastructure, policies, and culture of the company. I'm increasingly focused on strategy and partnerships, and have developed strong working relationships with a number of collaborators, including at the major podcast platforms and with broadcast partners in public media. I care deeply about both the success of the show and of my team, and strive to create an open, productive work environment that prizes work-life balance. During the four years that I worked at NPR, I developed a reputation as a particularly successful manager of people, and was regularly asked to participate in hiring panels for other shows and projects. I greatly enjoy watching my colleagues grow and thrive, and over several decades in journalism I've developed an extensive network of connections at a broad range of media outlets. Most importantly, I delight in stories created for the ear and have a knack for identifying topics and projects that will resonate with listeners. I love working with both written language and with tape, and I have extensive experience in story development and structuring. I've produced and edited everything from live election night coverage to hour-long audio documentaries to short, sound-rich "audio postcards.” At Hidden Brain, I developed our popular "You 2.0" series, which has become an important vehicle for show discovery among new listeners. In all of these projects, I work hard to meet hosts, producers and reporters where they're at, and to provide the support needed to successfully launch projects into the world.
