Tara Hookano Email and Phone Number
I am a passionate visual and studio arts educator seeking a position at a teaching studio or elementary and/or middle school where I can encourage and inspire students to discover and develop their artistic and creative abilities. I have the experience and a strong desire to incorporate a multidimensional, interdisciplinary, and multicultural curriculum that links the arts to history, language, culture, and society. Described as dynamic, creative, and innovative, I bring excellent public relations skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills to my work with students and my interactions with coworkers and families. I am detail oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team, have strong organizational skills, am flexible and adaptable to change, and enjoy organizing community events and activities. I strive to foster an engaged and positive classroom where all students are welcome and differences in learning styles are embraced.I believe in the importance of arts education and the power of arts integration in schools. The arts teach students the 21st century skills they will need to succeed in life: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Students learn how to work together, how to problem solve unique solutions, how to take risks, and how to listen and share their thoughts and ideas effectively. The arts increase student engagement in school, and allow students who struggle in other areas a place where their voice matters.

Intentional Creativity Coach And TeacherSelf-Employed, Mental Health And Wellness, Arts Educator Jun 2016 - Aug 2023Monterey, CaIntentional Creativity™ is an experiential process so it can be sometimes difficult to put into words. Intentional Creativity is a process that combines creative expression with mindfulness to support growth & healing. How? By literally creating around your intention. Making art in this way is not about being talented, gifted or artistic. It’s not predicated on identifying as an artist or even feeling creative. It is about getting to your soul essence through creativity, which is innate in all of us. With this method you create a quiet stillness to hear inner messages and give them form—in words and paint—in a relaxed and nurturing environment. You then have the opportunity to apply the insights and inner wisdom to your life and live in a way that is, in a word, more “you”."I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for.
