Hi, my name is Tara and I am a second year honours student in the Event Planning program at Humber College. I have recently secured an internship placement with the well-known company, Marriott hotels. I am very much looking forward to showcasing my skills while developing my experience in the hotel industry. My interest in the events industry began in high school where I was driven to create awareness of issues happening within the community. My four consecutive years of volunteering lead to the planning of a community event in my senior year. The successful objective of this event was to raise both money and awareness for Kids Help Phone. This experience was the kickoff to my event planning career. Events bring with them so much variety which is what makes them so intriguing to me. I love the idea of being able to transfer between the different types of events such as weddings, corporate, parties, etc. The possibilities are endless and the success lies within the details. I believe this is what will make me so successful in the industry. I am extremely organized and self-motivated which allows me to always get the job done, effectively and efficiently. In the end, my mission as an event planner is to provide a stress-free atmosphere where my clients don’t need to sweat anything other than making an appearance. My goal is to ensure everyone leaves the event having their expectations exceeded and the memories engraved forever.
