Functioned as the key, and responsible, person on data privacy topics and assistant for clients. Developed relevant data privacy artifacts for awareness training. - Summary: In-house Counsel in 8 lawyer General Counsel’s Office providing experience in a range of legal issues for global non-profit corporation operating in 191 countries with approximately 6,000 US employees (25,000 employees worldwide) with over 30 distinct divisions. Trained by outside counsel at large and medium-sized law firms. - Data Protection and Privacy: Researching and summarizing Data Protection and Privacy regulations in the U.S. and other countries such as the European Union (“EU”). Worked on a cross-functional task group to revise and update corporate data protection policy. Revised corporate privacy policies, including company mobile applications. Advised on compliance with data breach notification laws, including developing a response plan. Advised on potential legal and security issues in using technology, including mobile apps and cloud services. Updated Record Retention Policy. Worked with outside counsel on e-discovery for litigation matters. Drafted contest rules and counseled on privacy implications. - Intellectual Property: Drafted and edited licenses, physical and digital distribution contracts, broadcast contracts, publishing contracts, producer contracts, technology contracts including mobile application development, and other contracts and templates. Negotiated enterprise cloud services and technology development contracts. Taught employees how to use corporate intellectual property and third parties’ intellectual property as well as clearance issues. Developed a comprehensive Intellectual Property corporate policy. Prosecuted trademark applications. Drafted cease and desist letters for copyright and trademark infringement. Resolved copyright infringement allegations.- Corporate: Drafted legal documents for spinning off a division into an entity. The spin off entailed transferring assets, including intellectual property, transferring liabilities, real estate lease, and contracts, and seconding employees.
