My research project was called: 𝘋𝘌𝘔 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. The discrete element method (DEM) is usually used to simulate granular material in engineering problems. In this case it applied to study the effect of drained cyclic loading which can be found adjacent to offshore wind turbines with monopile foundations or integral bridge abutments.
