About Tara Chapmon

With over a decade of experience in outdoor education and wilderness guiding, I am passionate about creating transformative recreational experiences that connect people with nature. I have led diverse outdoor programs, from women's clinics and multi-pitch climbing to backcountry skiing and avalanche safety, for clients and students of all skill levels. As an instructor in tourism, recreation and adventure leadership at Oregon State University-Cascades, I teach courses that combine theory and practice in the classroom and in the field, while also supervising student teaching assistants and attending professional development seminars.In addition to my outdoor education background, I have a strong interest and aptitude in geographic information science and cartography. I hold a master's degree in parks, recreation and tourism management with a conservation concentration, and I am currently pursuing a graduate certificate in GIS and cartography at OSU. As a field mapping intern at Central Oregon Community College, I have utilized ArcGIS online and field maps designer to create, collect, and visualize data for collaborative mapping projects.
