I am a Certified Floodplain Manager with 15 years of experience in hazard mitigation planning, floodplain management and community planning and development. Currently, I hold the position as the E-911 Addressing Coordinator, Floodplain Manager, and CRS Coordinator for Lamar County. I was the first Floodplain Manager in the State of Mississippi to initiate and execute an Inter-Local Agreement to act as Floodplain Manager for all three municipalities within my community. I have worked through many disaster responses in and near my community, including Hurricane Katrina and many major flood and tornado events. In 2005, I administered a Buy-Out Program consisting of 14 homes in which they were all demolished and the land was preserved back to its natural state. I have served on the Association of Floodplain Managers of Mississippi Board for the last 8 years holding positions as Secretary in 2012, Vice President in 2013, President from 2014-2016, and currently the position as Treasurer. I also serve on the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) as the District 3 Chapter Director, for the past 4 years. I truly enjoy working with so many different states and learning what our similarities and differences are when it comes to floodplain management. I look forward to many more years in this profession, as it is my passion!
