I’m a designer and a mum. I have a farm on the outskirts of Auckland and brave the city commute because I’m interested in ethical living and want my kids to be able to name trees as well as apps. Becoming a mum has renewed my interest in storytelling and play which dovetails nicely into my creative work. I follow a human-centred design philosophy and particularly enjoy user research and psychology. I’m grateful to have worked with some inspirational people. I collaborated with scientists, educators and architects to overhaul the exhibits at an American science museum, worked for an innovative web design studio where I helped develop a human-centred design methodology (before HCD was a thing) and managed an eclectic design and editorial team in Tokyo. More recently, I moved into design leadership where I helped develop and inspire a new generation of designers and advocate for human-centred design. Now, I’m focusing on a better work-life balance and the wellbeing of my family. Specialities: design management, art direction, information architecture, visual design/graphic design, interaction design, user interface design, concept development, motion graphics.
