Welfare Officer:Overseeing pastoral support for ~60 young people during a their NCS programme. I supported YP throughout the two residential phases, reporting to various individuals at Head Office, and liaising with key staff. I was responsible for safeguarding, YP’s access to activities, and their welfare during all stages of the programme. Assistant Wave Leader:During the Social Action Project phase, I supported two teams (~30 YP and 4 staff members) through the planning and delivery stage of NCS.

✨Managed three teams of young people and six staff members✨-Made key decisions and assessing impact in terms of the NCS programme, staff, and young people-Coached team leaders and team mentors -Liaised with parents, charities and other external agencies -Performed regular admin duties -Handled finances -Established a key channel of communication between Head Office and Team Leaders

Seasonal role: July, August, October, February✨Completed 8 NCS Waves = 8 Teams = Over 120 Young People! ✨Each wave, I worked with a team (maximum 15 members) of 16-17 year olds, facilitating their once in a lifetime opportunity to develop skills for work and life. NCS has six principles- social mixing, mental and physical challenge, increased responsibility and independence, reflection, social action, and inspiration. I employed the following skills and abilities:-Inspiring the team of young people-Being respected by, and earning the trust of, the young people -Providing a level of pastoral care for the teams during the four week programme, particularly the two residential weeks-Working with other staff members and local groups as young people develop their Social Action Projects-Communicating effectively with both colleagues and young people-Completing daily administration tasks-Facilitating the personal and social development of young people-Was asked to work on the pilot programme of NCS Learn By Design in the South West

-Raise aspiration and awareness of Higher Education-Close the attainment gap for disadvantaged students-Assist in the transition from Further Education to Higher Education-Deliver a range of events to students ranging from 13-17:.Student Shadowing.Pathfinder Days.Summer and Autumn Schools.Visits to the University

-Working with Year 11 students identified as 'not reaching their full potential'-Working with University students on the National Scholarship Program-Working as a Coach with students who have actively chosen to join the scheme looking for support in one or more areas of university life

-Fully trained as Reader and Scribe as of January 2015 -Assisting with setting-up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment andexamination papers in accordance with strict procedures-Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seatsand advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues-Ensuring that candidates do not communicate once inside examination venues-Invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealingwith examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures-Checking attendance during examinations-Escorting candidates from venues during the examinations as required, and supervisingcandidates whilst outside examination venues-Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination -Supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do notremove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring thatcandidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner

I solely authored a 2000 word paper entitled 'The Psychosocial Burden of Psoriasis.' The paper covered reviewing evidence in the field of psoriasis study, concentrating on depression and suicide ideation, education and occupation impact, and the strain psoriasis puts on relationships. -Literature searching and selection of appropriate materials-Making scientific literature accessible to a lay audience-Summarising information-Sensitivity to those with psoriasis-Understanding of quantitative and qualitative data-Report writing -Microsoft Office-General administration dutiesReference:"We found Tara to be an extremely capable student who applied herself to the tasks provided with enthusiasm and diligence.The main task for her placement was to write a 2,000 word paper on The Psychosocial Burden of Psoriasis; A review of current literature regarding how psoriasis affects mental functioning, social life, relationships and career.PAPAA medical advisor Dr David Ashton MD PhD supervised the task and said:'Tara has done an excellent job with this.
