Librarians sit and read all day, right?? Nope, not even close! One of the reasons I’ve loved my career as a leader in public libraries is developing expertise in many different areas.My primary area of expertise is adult learning specifically designing, developing, and facilitating adult learning programs. Adult learners need learning experiences built specifically for them focusing on their experiences, their motivations, problem solving, and coming away with learnings that can be put into practice immediately. My varied experiences working with diverse populations of adult learners help me blend various principles and techniques into courses and training that ensure all participants’ success.* Staff training and development: Career-specific skills acquisition including adoption of new workplace technology, soft skills, and project/program management* Leadership and organizational development: Supervisory and leadership coaching and mentoring including problem solving, team building, and effective evaluation and staff support. I’ve coached 15+ people into leadership positions. * Workforce development: instruction and support for career exploration, job trainings and certifications, job search strategies, and interview preparation* Contextualized adult education curriculum and instruction for English Language Learners focused specifically on their goals and motivations for learning and improving their EnglishOther areas of expertise include:* Experienced with a variety of Learning Management systems (LMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems* Managing cross-functional teams to success on customer service, tech, and strategic planning projects? A major project was developing a learning management system for job readiness. * Grant writing bringing in millions to establish and/or sustain workforce development, adult education, and entrepreneurship services. A favorite grant established Jamaica FEASTS, a food entrepreneurship and training space. Many delicious things came out of that program 😊 * Relationship development and high-impact partnerships including collaborating with the Consortium for Workers Education to provide expanded adult education, career training, and job placement to Queens residents.* Data-driven decision making including establishing KPIs, creating success plans, and implementing dashboards to assess day-to-day operations and long-term goals. * Financial management including planning, directing, controlling, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring budgets ranging from $3,500,000 to $20,000,000.
