Staff Geologist
I primarily work with the geohazards group conducting geological hazard assessments along oil and gas pipelines across the US. This work involves geologic and geological hazard data collection, compilation, and analysis; remote sensing review of high-resolution LiDAR data and aerial photography; and field work to confirm and refine desktop assessments, spanning areas across much of the US. Geologic hazards have generally included landslides; subsidence related to mining, karst, and fluid withdrawal; seismic hazards including fault rupture, ground shaking, and liquefaction; hydrotechnical hazards; meteorological hazards; and; expansive/collapsible soils. Field work has included ground and aerial reconnaissance and detailed landslide and geologic mapping. Analysis utilizes ArcGIS software and interfaces. I also produce client deliverables including proposals, annual reports, and technical memorandums.Additionally, I provide geotechnical support for drilling oversight, soil and rock logging, and well installation, development, and abandonment. I also contribute environmental support for ground-water sampling (including PFAS) and analysis, drilling, soil sampling, and air quality monitoring.
Geomorphology/Imminent Threats Geoscientist-In-The-Park
Developed and implemented protocols for identifying, mapping, and predicting river hazards to roads and trails within Mount Rainier National Park. Conducted field research on backcountry glacial river floodplains and on glacial terrain mapping sediment accumulation zones and headcut areas, total station cross section surveying, auto level surveying, and assisting in glacier mass balance surveys and glacial outwash geochemical surveys. Assisted in the implementation of river barb and engineered log jam construction along eroded banks of the White River. Responsible for data analysis and interpretation, LiDAR and aerial image analysis, and GIS manipulation. Facilitated volunteer opportunities for river surveys and established interdivisional fieldwork assistance days.

Prepared samples primarily for carbon coulometry (total carbon and total inorganic carbon), gas bench carbonate analysis, and stable isotope mass spectrometry (carbon and nitrogen for solids, carbon and oxygen for carbonates and waters, and deuterium for waters). Heavily involved the analysis of sediment cores from Lake Junin, Peru for the Lake Junin Drilling Project, funded in part by a grant from the international Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP) and the National Science Foundation (NFS).
