Tara has a B.A. in Journalism & Public Relations; M.A. in Counseling w/a specialization in child & adolescent therapy, expertise in relational aggression, career & grief. She founded Students Against Bullying & Professionals Against Bullying to bring awareness to both bullying on campus & in the workplace. She has her Registered Yoga Teacher Training Certification from Yoga Alliance. Tara founded Michener Associates Counseling Center for those seeking therapy as well as those who are in need of yoga, mindfulness & psycho-educational support. She provides school author visits, & Beyond the Author Visit modules for schools who are interested in cohort engagement. Tara is a TEDx Speaker & has extensive experience in Library Policy& Bylaws, Tara Michener has spent eight years as a Library trustee where she was Past President & founded the library's Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee. She has presented & created content & educational resources for Library of Michigan, Michigan Library Association, Public Library Association Conferences, United For Libraries, New Jersey Trustee Institute, etc. Tara Michener is a Past E&I Chair of SCBWI-MI & current Founding Steering Committee Member of the SCBWI Impact Legacy Fund. In this role she has contributed to projects with Hospitals, Mini Grants, & more. Tara is the Mental Health Sub-Committee Chair for this group & the Lead for the Books About Bullying Project creating resources for mental health professionals, Media Specialists, Librarians. Tara has presented nationally as the Equity & Inclusion Moderator for The SCBWI Annual Conference E&I Social Hour Break-Out Sessions. Tara is a Mental Health contributor for Prevention Magazine, Medium.com, Metro Parent, Pink & Blue Magazine & WDET Detroit Today. Tara is a Civil Mediator focusing on Dispute Resolution. Tara has been featured in various media outlets such as Publisher's Weekly, Essence Magazine, CW50, MY TV20, & PBS. Tara is a two-time winner of the Salute to Diversity Award by Corp!
