Presently, transparency and stability issues with traditional teleoperated systems are too… Show more My research involves the ongoing development of a predictive force feedback methodology for use with a teleoperated surgical robotic system.Teleoperated robotic surgical systems are among the next generation of surgical tools currently being researched across the globe. Haptic feedback, whereby the surgeon is able to feel what the robot feels, is an invaluable component of these surgical systems. Presently, transparency and stability issues with traditional teleoperated systems are too restrictive for the technology to be fully utilized, as communication time delays between the master and slave subsystems cause an inherent stability/transparency trade-off. Instead, my research aims to develop an estimation-prediction control methodology that will allow for simultaneously high levels of transparency and stability. As the robot (slave) interacts with the biological tissues during a surgical procedure, information about the environment is recorded and analysed to produce an equivalent simulated environment. The haptic pen (master) then interacts with this simulated environment, with force feedback generated via this interaction. In doing so, force feedback is decoupled (partially) from the motions of the slave, and instead linked to the motions of the master, resulting in increased system transparency.My skills include:• Recursive parameter estimation techniques• Numerical analysis in MATLAB• Mathamatical modelling and analysis of kinematics and dynamics• C/C++ programming• Control system architecture design and analysis• Experimental design and analysis• Technical writing Show less

Similarly, trajectory generation was implemented to produce smooth, accurate movements, as per the surgical specific requirement. Show less
