"Prototype of Hempcrete noise barrier wall"The main aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to examine and to propose a prototype design of a highway noise barrier wall, which is a made from Hempcrete, a hemp-lime composite material. The thesis was done with cooperation of HAMK University of Applied Sciences and company Hemprefine OY. The prototype design of the Hempcrete noise barrier was made according to the concept of environmentally friendly green constructions. It is an Eco-friendly, sustainable structure with the ability to sequester carbon dioxide and unique sound absorption properties, that can be successfully use in different countries. It consists of a timber load-bearing frame, four Hempcrete blocks, connected to each other; and foundation.As the part of this work, I described advantages and disadvantages of such noise barrier wall; made a comparison of Hempcrete and traditional concrete; made an assessment and evaluated the possibility of constructing Hempcrete noise barrier in the targeted area.

Developed the general concept of the sewer system, wastewater, biological waste treatment, and sanitation strategy for settlements on Martapura Riverbanks in Banjarmasin area, Indonesia.• Provision of a cheap and easy-in-construction sanitation system with separate chambers for urine and feces for the targeted settlements.• Implementation of decentralized bio-waste collection practices• Implementation of urine processing, recycling, and consequent fertilizer production• Implementation of fecal matter treatment/recycling practice by integrating enclosed lagoons (namely waste stabilization ponds) with biogas production via an anaerobic digestion process.

Creation of the concept of eco-industrial and eco-innovation development in the Moreeni-Rastikangas area, Hämeenlinna, Finland. This project was prepared for the Finnish company – Linnan Kehitys Oy.-Conducted research on eco-industrial & eco-innovation development practices and examples of their real application in various European & non-European regions. -Analysed and researched the possibility of establishing industrial ecosystems and the application of circular business models.

-Collection, analysis, and preparation of data on the issue of worldwide construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling and reuse practices. The research targeted material was concrete and its recycling and reuse applications, but also additional information on other main components of C&D debris: bricks, gypsum, wood, and plastics (and relevant technical data on technologies and methods of recycling and reusing them) was also provided.-Research the possible integration of the circular economy model and sustainability into the core of the company business.

I was working on a research-project “Climate Resilient low-cost buildings in Marsabit county, Kenya” funded by Nordic Climate Facility by Nordic Development fund. My tasks were organizing and writing a report “Solar cookers and Energy Efficient and Renewable Energy Solutions”, and design, modeling and construction of prototypes of solar oven and parabolic solar cooker.The main aims of the project were to develop energy and cost-efficient cooking methods, prepare instructions on the construction and assembling of the solar cooker devices with the use of locally available (in the targeted area) materials. Furthermore, during the project, two different prototypes were constructed and then described in the final report..
