Not only do I develop, coordinate and implement new college recruitment strategies that attract and retain entry-level candidates; I also travel to job fairs, campus information sessions and other campus events to proactively recruit, screen and interview for available positions. In other words, I help students find their dream jobs—how cool is that?Effective recruitment and retention is a strategic endeavor, which is why I work closely with Burns & McDonnell managers to understand personnel needs based on our business outlook. I also give presentations about the company, job opportunities, company culture and benefits to help others better understand Burns & McDonnell and why it’s a top choice for prospective employees.Additionally, I play a key role in the lifecycle of the recruitment process, including candidate selection, recruiting, interviewing and hiring for new graduates and interns in the fields of engineering, construction management, science, architecture and design. Every employee, project and company has a story—and as a Marketing Communications Specialist for Burns & McDonnell, I work with our employee-owners and sales and marketing managers to develop strategic messaging that helps build awareness of and recognition for our company.A significant part of my responsibilities includes working with three of Burns & McDonnell’s regional office teams and two company divisions to develop and implement messaging and materials that provide creative marketing solutions to achieve a variety of goals, including brand awareness and new business development.With a background in the hospitality and engineering industries, I’ve developed a wide range of skills including customer relations, marketing strategy, project management and event planning that continue to serve me on a daily basis. Strategic marketing support not only helps our employee-owners do their jobs more effectively; it also helps our company be more successful as we provide project solutions to bring that same success to our clients.

As sales manager, I promoted and sold to a group market in a defined geographic region. I generated resort awareness through a variety of tactics including direct sales calls, tradeshows and networking groups. I also worked closely with the sales and marketing team to solicit, sell and confirm group business required to meet the company’s budgeted sales goals.
