The Bird & The Tree School opened its doors in September 2021. An alternative primary school with a mission to provide a joyful, purposeful and immersive education. Child-led, we worked with intention, curiosity and imagination in a process of explorative learning. Our aim being to nurture children's awareness, knowledge and skills and so support them to navigate and contribute to our ever changing world.The Bird & The Tree became a magical learning community of children, parents and facilitators/educators. It's been my great privilege to have lead and hosted this community. After 2 wonderful and challenging years we took the difficult decision to close the school at the end of June this year.Alternative models of education are needed in our communities. I believe alternative models like The Bird & The Tree have a vital role in developing our capacity to meet the wider societal challenges we face.I will continue to be apart of the conversation about how we can be best support and fund these seeds of possibility and hope.www.thebirdandthetree.ie

This role served a wide remit including developing operational capacity, building leadership capability, and delivering organisational development initiatives.
