Tarek is the CEO of Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Company (GIE). A Dubai-based company that is positioned as a reputable consulting firm in innovation ecosystem enablement for governments focusing on Deep Tech, with a track record of activities for the past 15 years. He is also the CEO of DeltaSquare and IdeaSpace, two sister companies headquartered in Egypt. Tarek brings 25+ years of experience as a developer, researcher, and manager working in innovation and entrepreneurship support, technology management, innovation clusters, and SME development. His experience includes working in local private sector, multinational corporations, International non-profit organizations, as well government sector.Prior to joining GIE, Tarek lead the Technology Management Department at the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), affiliated with the IT Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). He Managed the execution of several strategic presidential initiatives across Egypt and Africa with over 35M USD of budget impacting the lives of more than 250,000 individuals. The main programs he managed spanned emerging technology education, startup competitions, incubation management programs, innovation clusters, R&D funding, innovation competitions, as well as major international business consulting programs for SMEs.With a Bsc. degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Cairo University and an Msc. degree in Management of Technology from Nile University, in 1999 and 2009 respectively, Tarek started his professional career as an analog chip designer at Bahgat Group R&D lab in 1999, then as an IC behavioral modeling engineer at Mentor Graphics 2001-2004, then switched career to Telecommunications Pre-Sale at Alcatel till 2006. During this period, Tarek was an active member of the IEEE GOLD committee contributing to various national programs that received high recognition both locally and globally, like EED and MIE. Following his passion, he pursued a professional career in tech-entrepreneurship and innovation support with the Arab Science and Technology Foundation based in Sharjah U.A.E. for 3 years before joining ITIDA in 2009, then became one of the founding team members of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) in 2010.Tarek is passionate about technology education, data analytics, designing development programs, and video editing.A former African-Games gold-medal champion in Taekwondo, and a current CrossFit athlete.
