I have worked in the field of Education for over 20 years and I carry a strong belief that learning starts early. I’ve had the honor of overseeing various early childhood programs for major organizations in the city of Philadelphia. I started out as a teacher and felt the need to touch more minds in the field of education, so I decided to work more with adults who teach young children, and it's very rewarding. Tarrell J Davis is currently the Executive Director of Early Childhood Programs for Settlement Music School since 2008. Tarrell has worked as a teacher in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 10 years, and a Director for non-profit agencies serving children and families for the past 20 years in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties. During this time, she has provided mentorship for quality assurance and best practice with larger organizations like, NAEYC and Pennsylvania’s Keystone Stars. She is also Director of TTIA of Settlement Music School (Teacher Training Institute for the Arts), where she has proposed and created arts integrated trainings, and presented workshops for children and teachers across the state. She maintains a budget annually of 1.5 million dollars a year for the Kaleidoscope Arts Enrichment Program.Tarrell has worked in partnership with West Chester University since 2009 where she speaks publicly about Settlement’s research on the impact of an arts-integrated curriculum in pre-school programs –specifically Settlement’s Head Start program, Kaleidoscope — which has been published in premier early childhood research journals and is presented nationally by its researcher Dr. Eleanor Brown, including webinars and articles for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Health and Human Services. Kaleidoscope has previously been awarded the Coming up Taller Award presented by Hillary Clinton, and in 2017 the Kaleidoscope Arts Enrichment Program was the recipient of the Pre-K and the Arts Excellence Award from the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance presented to Tarrell by the Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenney.Tarrell holds a bachelor’s degree in Child Development & Family Relations and a Master’s in Education, Teaching K-8. Tarrell serves as co-chair for the Quality Sub-Committee for the Early Childhood Provider Council since 2021.
