Setsucon is an Anime/Japanese Culture convention hosted by the Penn State Anime Organization during January. As Vice Con Chair, I am second in command for the convention and oversee all of the directors and coordinators. Similar to how Human Relations oversees the volunteers and general staffers, I oversee those who make up the convention committee, making sure that any and all deadlines are met and that there is fluid movement of information and communication of ideas between departments. I took charge of public relations between our convention and other conventions and organizations, organizing a staff swap, anime previews, and con trips.

The Penn State Anime Organization is a student-run organization at the Pennsylvania State University that has the purpose of spreading Japanese culture around campus, mainly through anime and manga. During my four years as a member, I took on progressively senior-level roles within the organization, during which time I have gained invaluable experience in administration, collaboration, and team leadership.As President, I oversaw all activities that the organization does, such as our four weekly meetings, our frequent movie nights, and our outreach programs. I worked with other organizations on campus to hold joint events and with outside companies in the industry. I was also the organization representative for all university activities.During my tenure as President, I started the Pop Culture and Gaming Club Fair to introduce students to the various organizations on campus that specialize in pop culture, video games, tabletop gaming, and other related activities. I also expanded our Anime Movie Nights, transitioning from just a yearly film for club members to a monthly event at the HUB-Robeson Center Flex Theatre showcasing some of the top films in the anime industry.I have always been interested in Japanese culture, namely anime and manga, and being a critical part of our club's leadership has been equally rewarding, challenging, and valuable in my personal and professional development.

As a Teaching Assistant for the Introductory Laboratory in Materials Science, I worked under Dr. Elizabeth Kupp in running lab groups of Junior level MATSE students. I ran 5 lab groups, each of 5 people, throughout the fall semester, teaching undergraduate students how to perform metal polishing, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, FTIR and RAMAN imaging, and X-ray diffraction. I continued in my role for the spring semester, running 4 lab sections of 5 students each, teaching the students property analysis techniques such as tensile, 4-point bend, and differential scanning calorimetry.
