Micromechanics of fracture in body-centered cubic (BCC) crystals

As a Masters research assistant, I finished two research projects (i) Phase-field study of mechanically driven grain growth (ii) 2D dislocation dynamics study of abnormal rate sensitivity of Al polycrystals with bimodal grain size distribution. The role involved numerical modelling, designing simulation approach, writing FORTRAN code from scratch, developing open source c++ phase-field package, presenting the findings in group meetings and writing scientific reports.

As co-editor, I created a virtual lab 'Mechanical response of a material to micro-structural, mechanical and thermal stimuli' on the web of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Also, I explored the mechanical response of pulse current electrodeposited Nickel-gamma Alumina Nanocomposite coating.

At JFWTC, I modelled the thermally activated plastic flow in turbine materials through a Monte-Carlo simulation approach. The other experimental project involved investigating and measuring the wear properties of sinter-bonded boride precursors on to ferrous-alloy substrates.
